ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

The People's Roundtable has convened several Civil Society Summits since its formation. 


This innagural Summit was organised around the theme Towards a Peaceful, Safe & Just T&T. More than 100 participants from approximately 30 organisations took part in presentations and working-group discussions examining the many dimensions of crime and violence. This event attracted media coverage in several national newspaper outlets.

An online follow-up to the first Crime Summit, discssuing the theme of What We Learnt, What We Know, What We Must Do. This event included the public presentation of the Crime Summits findings and recommendations. 


This hybrid forum was organised around the theme The High Cost: No Accountability & We the People Excluded from Decision Making.  It examined the issues of constitutional reform, accountability, citizen participation, local government and governance of national resources.


This public forum was examined the regulation of political parties and campaign finance, transparency in political funding and the Representation of the People (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2020.  [Read the Roundtable's Press Release on Campaign Finance]


This event was an urgent gathering of civil society examining constitutional rights, public accountability, community action and the role of civil society in responding to national developments.


A forum examining citizens’ constitutional rights, the exercise of emergency powers, freedom of expression and assembly, and the right to peaceful protest.
